Has anyone been through the Police recruitment fitness test?
(UK based question)
I’ve passed the application stage for my local constabulary and now have a date for my fitness assessment of which i’m keen to know about.
I’ve read the FAQ on the recruitment section of the website describing an aspect of what i’ll go through but i’ve heard there’s more involved.
Has anyone been through the fitness assessment who could shed some light on it? Current officers or trainees preferable to answer.
Thanks.
I’ve been through the Police fitness test which is laughably easy. They keep removing certain parts of it and lowering the levels of the bleep test run so that more people can pass and they therefore get more recruits.
It may change again and I hope it does as I find that a lot of officers who come into the job now aren’t fit enough. I’m not super fit myself but when I run after someone at work I generally catch them and I’m older then most of the people I work with who usually tell me I’m a fast runner.
When I passed the fitness test the bleep test run level was 5.4 which is a fast jog where you are just breaking into a sweat. Easy.
Then there’s a ‘push pull’ test where you have to push and pull at least 34 & 35 kg as an average, also easy.
And that’s it.
The test may be different in different parts of the country but as far as I’m aware its the same all over England & Wales.
If you can’t pass this test then you really need to take a good look at your levels of fitness.
Good luck with the application.
